WONDER CON

Wonder Con, Northern California's largest comic book convention, is almost upon us, and I'm involved in a few of the events.

First off, I'm part of a Queer Cartoonists Reading!  Here's the pitch:

Six stellar, local cartoonists join forces on Saturday, February 23rd for a reading and signing at the LGBT Center’s 3 Dollar Bill Café.  Queer comics have never been richer and more vibrant, and the Bay Area creators especially typify this new diversity of themes and styles.

Featuring:
Brian Andersen (So Super Duper)
Paige Braddock (Jane’s World)
Justin Hall (True Travel Tales, Hard To Swallow)
Andy Hartzell (Fox Bunny Funny, Monday)
MariNaomi (Estrus Comics)
Tommy Roddy (Pride High)
Moderated by Rich Boutell of the local comics store Whatever…

When:  Saturday, February 23rd, 7-10pm, with readings beginning at 8pm
Where:  3 Dollar Bill Café, at the LGBT Center, 1800 Market St.
Sponsored by Prism Comics and Whatever…

Second, I'm signing at the Prism Comics booth (number 817) at Wonder Con on Saturday, February 23rd from 11:00am-noon.

Third, I'm on two panels at the Con...

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 23 - 12:00 - 1:00 PM
PRISM COMICS PRESENTS: EMERGING LGBT VOICES - a panel discussion

12:00-1:00pm Prism Comics Presents: Emerging LGBT Voices--- A panel discussion shining a light on the rising generation of LGBT talent, featuring Charles "Zan" Christensen (The Mark of Aeacus), Tristan Crane (How Loathsome), Justin Hall (True Tales), MariNaomi (Estrus Comics), Tommy Roddy (Pride High), and others to be announced. Influenced by and conscious of the past, creating and distributing their work in a world of new technologies and platforms, these creators are redefining the place of LGBT comics and characters. Moderated by Patty Jeres, Prism Board Member, Talent and Industry Chair.  Room 232/234

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 23 - 1:00-2:30 PM
S.F. CARTOON MUSEUM: BAY AREA CARTOONISTS

2:00-3:30 Cartoon Art Museum: Spotlight on Local Cartoonists— San Francisco has been a hotbed of cartooning for over 100 years, and that tradition continues today with the Bay Area's vibrant creative community. Join panel moderator Andrew Farago (curator of San Francisco's Cartoon Art Museum) as he interviews six of the Bay Area's most talented cartoonists: MariNaomi (Estrus Comics), Fredo (altgeek.net), Lloyd Dangle (Troubletown), Justin Hall (True Travel Tales), Debbie Huey (Bumperboy), and Michael Jantze (The Norm). Room 232/234

We're getting a lot of nice publicity around all these events...  Check out the S.F. Chronicle's Thursday edition for an article on LGBT comics that plugs all of this stuff!

Thanks, Lito! It was great to meet you, and I appreciate the support. Glad you picked up Jason's zine as well... It's a trip! I really hope he continues with the project, as I could see him right there with David Sedaris or Augustyn Burroughs... Take care,
Justin
